Sketch Mirror App Reviews

Crash crash crash

After the first run, the app started to crush. Its a wonderful and useful idea to see our sketch files on iOS different devices, but actually is unuseful.... Please fix it! Im running iOS 8.4 on an iPhone 5

Could be great, but still problems

The app is really great for previewing designs. However, there are a few major problems: 1. It constantly disconnects. The only way I have found to make it work is with a dedicated lighting cable. Even then, I constantly have to reconnect to it or restart the app. 2. The order of the artboards in Mirror is inconsistent. Inside of sketch, if I export the dartboards to a PDF it will put the artboards in top-down order. However, when previewing in Mirror it will put the dartboards in bottom-up order. This causes me workflow issues.

Hasnt worked once!

I have no issues with the devices recognizing each other but after it loads all the canvas names all I get is the infinite spinning wheel. It never renders any of the canvasses to the iPhone. How frustrating!!!

Good start, but not perfect yet.

I use this app every day and its actually a great addition to sketch. But you shouldnt stop developing it, there is plenty room for improvements. 4 stars for this version is a bit too much but I believe you will get there soon. Things to consider: - better UI for artboards navigation, in the current version the only way to keep the flow consistent is to name artboards numbered, thats annoying. - connection process is a frustrating experience within a corporate network. I have no idea how to connect it via Bluetooth or usb. Yes I saw your prompt, its pretty useless because good user experience should be seamless. This is not an option to disable wifi, setup a hotspot or whatever on my iPhone or iPad. - figure out how to keep devise connected when user switches apps. This is probably most critical issue. Encourage you engineers to figure this out, there is nothing impossible. I used at least 3 similar apps that did it right. (Live view, skala and I guess something from Adobe) Good luck!

When is the syncing going to get fixed?

My desktop app no longer connects to mirror... v3.3.3 (12081)

Needs serious work

I love Sketch. I really do. But mirror is extremely unstable and the frequent dropping of connection, lack of re-connection ability in the app (better never background it!!) and general buggy nature makes Sketch a frustrating experience when it COULD be so magical. Please, guys, fix this thing.

Flakey

Ive had this work on open Wifi, but on a protected network it would will not connect. Bluetooth connections are flakey with this and USB connections dont seem to work at all.

Causes desktop app to crash

Ive been emailing with support and, though friendly, they dont seem to know how to help. I havent been able to successfully connect to Sketch Mirror since iOS 9 came out. Manually typing in the IP address just causes the desktop app to crash. Ive relied pretty heavily, as a mobile designer, on reflecting Sketch to my phone to test type size, but this is pretty much unusable at this point. Its stopping my workflow and eating up large chunks of time and still producing no results. I really hope you could release reliable products if youre going to charge $5 and $99 for them

Pretty good.

Hello!! I bought the mirroring option to match with Sketch3 so that I could obviously view what it looks like on my phone. Im not really sure why everyone is giving such negative reviews, when in reality its not even bad. It hasnt dropped connection once for me. (With exception to exiting the app, which makes sense) Also, it is meant to {see} what it looks like on a device, not anything else...It does exactly what its meant for. And $5 isnt a lot. Lets be honest, its equal to a "venti sized coffee at Starbucks," as I saw on an article about the mirroring option. Download it. Its great, you wont regret it.

Really helps

Works great for me. Thanks!

Please add mirroring over USB

Realistically, this works about 40-60% of the time. After having used similar products like Skala Preview and Adobe Device Preview (for Photoshop), this previewing is really bad in comparison. The only reliable way to preview work on a device is with USB. Wifi is just too unreliable, no matter how great your network is. There is also no way to refresh the preview without restarting everything.

Incredibly frustrating

Ive never rated an app in the App Store before but my experience with Sketch Mirror has led me to do so. Not only does that app crash often, most of the time it out right doesnt work. On the rare occasion I get it to sync, its wonky and inconsistent at best. Sketch also has a horrible customer support process. Most of the time they flat out dont respond whether it be via Twitter, email or their site. This only adds to the frustration. Mirror has so much potential so I really hope they focus on improving/redeeming it.

Very Average

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesnt. I agree with some reviewers that its disrespectful. Sketch is such a useful platform, unfortunate to see them botch their only app

Unfinished piece of garbage riddled with UX Issues

Connection only works about half of the time, and the iPhone screen stops updating midway through your work around 75% of the time. Im forced to close it on my phone and reconnect multiple times a day. Manually typing the IP works sometimes, but youll eventually need to quit the app and reconnect. Great concept, but unreliable. I do not recommend downloading and paying for this absolute piece of garbage. As for UX Issues, this app is full of them. One of the most annoying things is that the app sends your phone to the first artboard in your file by default. It would be better if it took you to the current active sketch artboard on your computer. A toggle to force Sketch and Sketch Mirror to remain on the same active artboard would be useful as well. The app also lacks any type of manual refresh, forcing you to either guess wether or not the app works anymore, and forcing you to quit/restart in order to see anything on the screen update.

Dont buy - piece of crap

I love Sketch and how its made. Totally worth $100. But this app is a piece of crap. Bohemian Coding Team, show some respect to your users, remove this shame from AppStore and dont rip off those who support you. So much time passed, you did nothing with Mirror, even support page listed here is not working.... Or fix it. Would love to change my mind (and review)

Its really not that bad

I read all the reviews, but I still purchased it with my faith in Sketch. It turned working very well! No connection problem at all. Now I start to wonder if all bad reviews are from Adobe lol

The worst part of Sketch

I hate it. Half the time connections are unsuccessful. When it does finally connect it fails to recognize the canvases. When and if it finally does mirror a canvas, the change do not update and are not reflected on the app. Horrible, horrible, horrible app. Please fix the app and dont release it until you tested the functionality.

Useful tool

I held off buying this for a while because of the low rating and negative reviews, but my fears have proven unfounded. Ive been using it for several days as a key part of the design process for the app Im working on, and it does exactly what I need it to, which is let me quickly and easily see what Im working on on my phone. Ive used it on both my office and home networks without incident. I did have to enter the IP the first time at home, but it was easy and smooth. I was previously using Skala with Photoshop and had a lot more issues with that. Yes, there is definitely room for improvement (hence 4 stars), but nothing thats a deal breaker. With Adobe upping its app game recently, it seems likely Sketch will get around to it at some point too since its part of being competitive in this space.

Feels abandoned

So many bugs, with my biggest personal gripe is it being slow (if it does) to refresh changes. Should be free until it the bugs are addressed.

Someday, I hope this will work

Still has mad issues connecting or even causing Sketch to crash. As something I consider a major plus of Sketch, Id love to see them put more love into this.
